End of the Beach

So my friend, Azra (everyone says Hi Azra!), posted a painting of roses and an apple on canvas paper and she inspired me to give the paper a try. So out I went and bought some Canson (my personal fav paper company) Canva Oil paper in a sheet and cut it up (from Michael's Art and Crafts cause I was near one and had a 40% off coupon-Yeah!). The first, a small study of a rosette echeveria succulent, felt like it sucked up the oil. So for the second I gave it a coat of gesso (no sanding), then an under-painting in acrylic before moving on to oils. Fun to try something new.
Thanks Azra!

Cheers all!

  2. Ahhh Karen, you're so sweet,I wish I could come over just to give you a hug. : )

The seascape is AMAZING! I love it! The light in the sky and sea and highlighted on the wall at the front ,what size is this?
The echeveria does indeed look succulent and beautifully painted!

  3. Two beautiful paintings Karen! I love the beach scene with the bright sky and the reflections and your rose is gorgeous! I'm going to have to try that paper and what a good idea to put a coat of gesso first, will you mount the paper onto something if you frame it?

    1. Thank you Karen (been keeping tabs on your master's painting - good show!) I will have to do research (probably can find a great answer on Wetcanvas.com) in regards to the framing. Hm....Seems like it could just be mounted as a watercolor would.

    1. Don't ya just love those coupons? I do. (But don't buy charcoal pencils at Michael's - they've all been dropped and are broken inside. Waste of time and money.)
